Topspace has been the market leader in renting car accessories for 25 years: roof boxes, roof racks, bike carriers, snow chains and ski carriers, for anyone who needs extra space for a trip without buying the gear. Customers reserve online and pick up at one of more than 90 locations in the Netherlands and Belgium, where the gear is fitted to their car. About 300,000 completed reservations so far.

Since January 2026 I work on the platform as a full stack Ruby on Rails developer, from the database to the screens that customers, locations and partners use.

Inside the application

  • Online reservations

    Customers choose an item, a location and a period, and the price calculator shows the price straight away, customer discount included.

  • More than 90 locations

    The rental stock of over 5,000 roof boxes is spread over locations across the Netherlands and Belgium, found on a map.

  • The right fit

    Roof racks for nearly every vehicle and roof type, so the gear that is reserved fits the customer's car.

  • A customer environment

    Customers find and manage their reservations in their own environment.

  • Partner-Up

    Businesses that want to rent out Topspace products themselves join as a rental partner.

  • Four languages

    The site is available in Dutch, English, French and German.
